Composer Eric Taylor Young, (BMI) is a multi-instrumentalist, who plays the pipe organ, piano, keyboards, Hammond B3 organs, and midi instruments. Eric first started playing keyboards at the young age of three years old. Nurtured and encouraged by his mother, Meshalle Kimble, an excellent singer in the Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church (Oakland, California) choir since childhood herself, she immediately recognized Eric’s fondness for the church organ, and encouraged his interests.
Eric Taylor Young first began taking private piano lessons with the late Mrs. Theola Scott of Berkeley, California, when he was seven years old. He then studied under Mrs. Augustine Thomas of Oakland, from 1978 until 1980. Eric played trumpet in the Natomas Junior High School music program, in Sacramento, from 1981 until 1984, under the direction of Mrs. Lynn Tetlow. While in Sacramento, Eric took private lessons with the late First United Methodist Church Organist David Yoder, and Organist Paschal Monk. Upon his return to the Bay Area, Eric began his studies with the late Alex Jackson, Assistant Organist with Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church. Eric studied for a brief period under the private instruction of Jazz pianist Janet Cuniberty.
Eric Taylor Young is the organist for Beth Eden Baptist Church, Oakland, and Deliverance Full Gospel Baptist Church, Oakland.
Eric Taylor Young auditioned to be signed by music publishing giant, P-ism Corporation LLC distribution, playing Handel’s Messiah from memory on the pipe organ, and impressing publishers with songs, arpeggios, riffs and runs on the concert grand piano, the Allen Renaissance 350 Digital Pipe Organ, and the Hammond B3 organ. That audition resulted in his appointment as staff composer for the Alleluia Amen Mass Choir and Orchestra, and musical director of the Celestial Choir. His first recording for P-ism Corporation LLC, is The Lord’s Prayer featuring the vocals of Bishop L. E. Franklin.
Eric Taylor Young is a member of and music co-director of the Crystal Mapp Vales Wings Ensemble Band. He has co-collaborated on numerous songs with Crystal Mapp Vales (ASCAP) and Stanley Bull (BMI). Those songs can be heard on the digitally released album, CRYSTAL MAPP VALES: HEAVEN (CMV+ Pism Corporation LLC), released in 2013.
Eric Taylor Young is a member of international recording artist Bishop L. E. Franklin’s Royal Family Band, playing organ and piano, and recording for LeFranklin Records.
Eric Taylor Young can be heard on numerous recordings, both gospel and secular. He has written and recorded original songs and collaborated with singer-songwriters Crystal Mapp Vales (ASCAP), Bishop L. E. Franklin (BMI), and Miranda Boston (BMI).
Eric Taylor Young is currently working on a catalog of his early compositions to be released on TransitBay Records, a subsidiary imprint of P-ism Corporation LLC.
